EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals process past traumatic experiences. It involves a structured eight-phase treatment where the client recalls distressing memories while receiving bilateral sensory input; typically through side-to-side eye movements. This bilateral stimulation is believed to help unlock and process traumatic memories more effectively.

During EMDR therapy, the client is guided to focus on different aspects of a distressing memory while simultaneously attending to the bilateral stimulation. This process aims to facilitate the brain’s natural ability to heal from emotional wounds by integrating the traumatic memories with more adaptive information.

EMDR Sessions with Valerie will take place via video telehealth. Reprocessing sessions will require the use of headphones and/or technology that may require a larger screen, such as a computer.
